From the desk of Andre Agassi...
Recently, I watched the excellent junior tennis documentary "Unstrung" and fairly early on in the film, there's a segment (starting at 19:34) where tennis legend Andre Agassi gave this quick (and oh-so-true primer) on the difference between a "pretender" and a true "contender" in our great sport:
"I just think a lot of these young kids just have fundamental limitations in their game but at a younger age when the ball isn’t quite as quick, they can succeed and establish themselves as sort of one of the better ones.
And, as the pace picks up and the levels improve, they somehow fade away and then you sort of start saying, well, you should have gone to college…"
No truer words have been spoken...
Maybe we'll start getting into the nitty-gritty details of what those limitations might be "as the pace picks up", in the future.
TTFN!
